This artwork provides visual images derived from places that often go unnoticed. It becomes a painted vocabulary of everyday events from the forces that drive water, the structure of plants, the flow of air around us, the rock formations, and the conversations between birds. I configure the many layers of the natural world, imbue them with a sense of myself and wonder about the enormous complexity of the world. The emphasis is showing the dependence and interdependence of each natural element and their fragile connections.

The birds in my paintings help us to step back, observe, look in and look out. They keep a watch over us and tell us about the complexity of the world. Birds are not only observed by us, but fully link us to every day, and to everything in nature. The need a rich environment for habitat, and plentiful food sources to remain healthy and raise families. I use images of birds in my work to represent the beauty and resilience found in the natural world, despite the environmental challenges we all face.
